“You are never really playing an opponent. You are playing yourself, your own highest standards, and when you reach your limits, that is real joy.” – Arthur Ashe, Jr. (1943 – 1993), three-time Grand Slam winner
Many of us have a lot of excuses for not working out or exercising like “I’m too busy,” “I don’t have the time,” “Gym memberships are too expensive,” or “It’s too hard I can’t do it.”
Most of these excuses may have some truth to them, but more often than not, the main problem really is the lack of motivation and commitment.
When you really think about it, there is no rock solid excuse why you can’t spare half an hour (or even less!) to work out. If your problem is time, there are a lot of one or two-minute workouts that you can do. If your problem is money, you can skip the gym, search for free workout videos on YouTube, and exercise at home. If your problem is that you think working out is too hard, there are literally tons of simple exercises that you can use.
Sometimes we just need a challenge to push us. We humans have that innate need to prove something to ourselves and see the results of our efforts. Be it in the form of an exercise challenge or a sport, we want to be able to say “I can do that” or “I did that.”
That is why there are a lot of exercise challenges out there that are designed to push people to think and go outside of themselves. These challenges are also carefully created to give the results you expect in a specific time frame. Having that end or victory day to look forward to can give people the motivation and commitment they need to complete the workout.
Here are some great exercise challenges that can push people to do something new and exciting and work to have that rocking body they’ve always wanted.

Succeeding in exercise challenges
These are just some of the exercise challenges that can help you get on the road to that rocking body of your dreams. You can pick any of these or look for other challenges that you feel are better for you.
Whatever challenge you choose, you have to have the COMMITMENT to see the challenge through. You need commitment to really stick it out and succeed.
I, for one, have exercise challenges on my to-do list for the year. My goal is to complete one or two exercise challenges within the year because I have decided that 2012 will be the year I push myself. And because I want to really push myself, I have my eye on the Insanity Workout, said to be the hardest fitness program on DVD. I have friends who swear by it and if they were able to do it, there really is no rock solid excuse why I can’t.
What about you, what exercise challenge are you doing to kick off the year?
