“If you don’t use it you lose it.” – Unknown
Working a desk job can wreak havoc on your body. Sitting for long periods of time shortens muscles, tendons and ligaments and makes them more prone to injury. Your body was made to move regularly to stay healthy and strong.
The problem is that we don’t live in an ideal world.
We have to support our families, make money and put bread on the table (hopefully, gluten-free! :)).
For the last year I have been blessed with a wonderful 9-5 job where I work with kind, passionate co-workers. The work is meaningful and important. The problem is that sometimes I sit for several hours at a time. When I come home my neck and low back are tight and sore.
Are you in this situation?
Do you feel like your 9-5 is destroying your body? Are you noticing frequent tightness in your neck, shoulders and low back?
Its time for the The Super Bowl!
There is a little full body workout that I do when I use the stall at my workplace. Its a workout that no one could ever see me do but it builds strength and flexibility in just a few reps. It also prevents the normal stiffness that I feel when I get home.
The Answer: The Super Bowl
The exercise is called The Super Bowl ;). I do it for 5 full repetitions.
It combines flexibility work and isometrics (super excited for my new Isometrics Strength program to becoming out soon).
I try to do it 3-4 times throughout the work day.
LOL 🙂 this is awesome.. TBH I do something alike too at work, a couple of stretches, some mobility moves (neck, wrists,..) and some slow squats trying to not make any sound indeed. Just takes 1 or 2 minutes so its ideal. I don’t do it enough though, so I’m going to try to remember to do it every time I go..
Nice blog btw Todd, just discovered it through that great bundle 🙂
